NMA’s Response to the Coronavirus – June 2020

Nepean Martial Arts’ Response to the Coronavirus

It’s been a long couple of months since we were able to run our normal classes and we still have a way to go. In the meantime, we would like to keep you engaged with your martial arts training and to let you know what we are planning for the future.

We are hoping to be able to resume our classes in term 3 (from July 20) but this will depend on the COVID19 restrictions that are in place at that time, and our ability to access our usual venues – Blackwell Public School, Glenmore Park Public School and Fern Hill Primary School. Our classes in term 3 will probably be smaller and we will be required to implement a range of strategies to ensure the safety of all our instructors and students. We will be required to monitor our student’s health at each class, to ensure that the increased hygiene measures are observed by our students and instructors, to manage the arrival and departure of our students and their families as well as changing how our classes are run and controlling the use of training equipment.

To help you get back into your martial arts groove, we have added a number of resources to the Members Area of our website, including videos for Taekwondo and Haidong Gumdo, and we’re working on Liu He Ba Fa videos. You will need a password to access these videos and all of our registered students should have received an email containing the details – if you haven’t received the email yet, please contact us.

We are also meeting up with some of our students for private, face-to-face sessions. These private sessions can be for a single student, a family group or a small group of students and can be conducted in your home or in a quiet nearby park or similar. If you are interested in accessing these face-to-face sessions, please get in touch with us.

We would love any feedback you have to offer on the videos.

Nepean Martial Arts’ Response to the Coronavirus

NMA has suspended all classes, workshops and gradings from Monday, March 23.

A great deal has changed since we published our last response to the Corona Virus, just a week ago. As a result of the changes in directives from both the Federal and NSW governments, Nepean Martial Arts classes, workshops and gradings will be suspended until further notice. No-one knows how the current situation will play out but we do know that continuing to run classes and hold events would contradict government directives to cease all indoor fitness activities and would put our students and their families at risk – something we cannot countenance.

We will be posting some training tips for Taekwondo, Haidong Gumdo and Liu He Ba Fa here and on Facebook while we’re on our enforced “holiday”. If you have any special requests please use the Message Us fields to let us know.

In the meantime, please check in to this website often, and follow us at Facebook.com/NepeanMartialArts/

Stay safe, look after the people you love, and be kind to each other. We look forward to seeing you all again as soon as we possibly can so that we can all resume our normal activities, including having fun, staying fit and learning to be stronger through our martial arts!
